Glenn & Emily | Wedding

I've never been to a wedding quite like Glenn & Emily's. They intentionally kept things simple, choosing to focus the day on the marriage that took place, instead of on a big elaborate wedding event. There were no attendants; just the two of them covenanting before God, with their friends and relatives looking on. After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the church hall for fruit, coffee, and fellowship.

After helping with planning so many weddings, with all the stress and juggling that goes on, there is something to be said for a low-key wedding. There certainly wasn't any less joy in the absence of tons of decorations and a 3-course meal!

I realized afterwards that this was my first time shooting an indoor wedding. I guess most of my friends like the outdoors. :-)

Always one of my favorite moments.

Emily, you are so beautiful!!

Making it official. :-)

Congratulations, Glenn & Emily, and blessings on your new life together!

I'm so excited to share Aaron & Megan's amazing wedding at the Starline Factory, but you'll have to be patient. For now, enjoy this little sneak peek!

Having way too much fun and it hasn't even started yet

Getting ready to head out to shoot Aaron & Megan's wedding tomorrow... feeling so professional with my new battery grip.

I also rented a 100mm 2.8L IS macro lens (gotta love referral credits!! Thanks, Aperturent! :-)... oh my goodness, people, am I ever in love! I tried it out on my simple little ring and it's AMAZING! I can't wait to use it on Megan's heavily jeweled one and any other sparkly details. :-)

Behold the beautiful red band!
First time using an L series lens. Just a wee bit excited. :-)

See what I mean?

Yeah. Smitten would be a good word for it.

"Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Six days. Six blissful days of doing absolutely nothing really worth mentioning in the grand scheme of things. We went on vacation. To Marco Island, in Florida. I used to be somewhat repelled by the idea of going to Florida, hearkening back to trips there as a child in the middle of the summer, walking around Disney World, and perspiring profusely in the so-thick-you-can-cut-it humid air.

I think it must have been that I was so dried out here combined with the fact that being January the weather there was a bit more mild... it was, in a word, delightful. We rented a nice house, and spent our time floating in the pool, resting in the sun, walking the beach, eating delicious food, and swimming in the ocean.

God's handiwork is so incredible... the beauty of the sea, the waves rolling up on the shore and then sliding smoothly back over myriad shells left on the sand... gorgeous sunsets... His whole wonderful creation.

The back of the house, from inside the lanai. Marco Island is kind of like a bunch of canals that lead out to the gulf.

The beautiful Tigertail Beach... widest beach I've ever seen in my life!

Pink and yellow houses... only in Florida! :-)

Got my first ever French manicure (well, actually my first manicure, period).

Home Again

I just got back from a week long trip down to Marco Island, Florida. It was a delightful time of rest and relaxation, soaking up the sun and feeling the sandy beach between my toes. More pictures to come... just wanted to pop in quickly and let you know I'm still alive (and very much so)!
