Black Friday & Cyber Monday Photography Deals!

I'm not one of those people who gets up at 3am to wait in line for 700 hours at a store. (I know, I'm exaggerating. But barely.) At the same time, as my sister will tell you, I love a good deal (which generally means it's under $10) so online shopping is right up my alley. ;-) Here's a small sampling of finds in the photography department for you! Not all under $10, but still pretty good deals. Happy shopping!

*Some of these are also valid through "Cyber Monday," and some aren't. Figure it out for yourself, you're intelligent people.*

Cyber Monday Aperturent coupon:

Swanky Prints Photography Backdrops on Etsy - several of their lovely vinyl backdrops are 50% off! Backdrops are pricey, and these are on sale for around only $20! They also have a great variety of prints to choose from.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 is on sale at Adorama for $49! This was the program I started with and what I still use for any special editing (beyond a basic photo touchup) and designing. I haven't ever explored Photoshop CS6 to be able to compare, but from my experience Elements is a great program well worth the money!

Adobe Lightroom 4 is also on special at Adorama for only $94! If you're serious about photography and have shoots with large amounts of images, Lightroom is a HUGE timesaver!! I don't know how I did it before Lightroom.

Also check out the rest of the Black Friday sales at Adorama!

Free shipping at SewTamz with coupon code BLACKFRIDAY or CYBER - these camera strap covers are great! Read my review of them HERE!

And here are a few fun, individual items I found that would make great photographer gifts (for yourself or for someone else :-):

Love this adorable necklace from Hipster Designs on Etsy - "My other camera is in a catalog." Haha, isn't that how we all are - wishing for the next model up. :-) Only $3.49!

Camera Earrings from DistinctlyIvy on Etsy - Cute little earrings with pearls. $7.98

Happy Thanksgiving! | Personal

My favorite holiday has arrived! We always say we don't know why we don't cook a turkey more than once a year - it makes the house smell divine. We're feasting on roasted turkey, sweet potato pecan casserole, homemade honey cranberry sauce, beef tenderloin roast for my Opa who hates turkey (more for us!), and that's only our side of it. I'm not sure what my aunt and Oma are making. :-) By the end of the day, I will probably have consumed approximately 6 pounds of butter. And enjoyed every minute of it, thank you very much.

But of course we have to remember... it's not about the food. (Ok, it's partly about the food). Above all, though, it's about being thankful to the Lord for what He has done for us and in us. Warm homes to live in; clothes to wear; air to breathe and lungs with which to do it. Families that love us and for us to love. For saving us from eternity apart from Him. I'm thankful, aren't you?

Probably more pictures to come... here's two from yesterday. :-)

Cranberry sauce pre-apple juice, honey and heat.

I made Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls for breakfast yesterday... this was all that was left.

Abbe | Portraits

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll remember Abbe from the shoot I did with her group of 10 siblings. She decided she needed some new head shots, and when I got the email I did a happy dance (not literally, of course). Ever since the sibling shoot I'd been hoping to do personal portraits of the girls (Brooke, you're next! ;-), so this week we made it happen.

It was FREEZING out when we shot these... I was frigid and I was wearing my winter coat and hat! I'm so glad she was tough enough to face the wind and look amazing at the same time - Abbe, I hope you find these images worth it. I do. :-) Enjoy some favorites!

Hello, fabulous sequin skirt.

It's fun how I have shot at Woodstock Square so many times, but I still keep finding new nooks!

She found this vintage piece of coat perfection for $25 (right, Abbe?).
Why do I never find deals like this?

I love laughing photos. :-)

Favorite!

Love That Cat

I have kind of a love-hate relationship with pets. I love them for being what they are - cuddly, soft, adorable, funny... I'm not so crazy about the fur all over everything, when they misbehave, and the dirty jobs. But I have to say, Katije (pronounced Kaht-yah) is one of the best cats we've ever had. The only naughty thing she really ever does is climb the screen doors, and amazingly she doesn't really shed. Plus, she's just really fluffy and chubby and cute, washes herself obsessively, blinks her eyes when she meows, and purrs so loud you can hear her across the room.

This is really a terrible picture, but it cracks me up. Ninja kitty!
