I'm telling you, I have worked with some very brave girls the last couple of months. We've had a photoshoot scheduled and the day would be FREEZING... but, nothing daunted, they proceed to pose in short sleeves and somehow manage to look amazing! (While I snap away in the [relative] comfort of coat and gloves). I don't know how they do it but they don't even show any signs of being cold in the photos. If it was me, my nose would be red and I'd have a clenched teeth sort of smile that just screams, "I'm shivering!"

Taylor was in the cold-but-amazing category. (Unlike me). Sunset is a beautiful time to shoot but it's also the time when the temperature starts dropping! She posed like a pro and we got her senior portraits done in half an hour! Enjoy!

Today's post has... well, nothing to do with photography. Sorry. Just some completely random and unconnected things I've kinda been loving recently...

• Lindt Lindor truffle bars... All right, so this isn't exactly random, and it isn't really a recent discovery since Lindt Lindor truffles have been my one true chocolate love for quite some time. But it's only lately we have discovered truffle BARS, which means it's the chocolate heaven of Lindor truffles in a bar made up of 18 individual pieces. This is seriously dangerous because they aren't individually wrapped, so once you open up the bar, the whole thing is just sitting out in the open and the pieces are so small it's easy to just keep popping them in your mouth... like popcorn... only waaaaay better.

• Foyle's War. Combine England, 1940's, a host of likable characters, brilliant acting by Michael Kitchen and a great supporting cast, and a good plot... yep, I like it pretty well. :-) I never thought of myself as a person who liked watching murder mysteries; then I watched my first Poirot and liked that, and watched Sherlock, and liked that... but Foyle's War tops them both in my opinion. And yes, I freely admit that being set in the 1940's has LOT to do with that.

• Oberweis chocolate milk. Where has this stuff been all my life?? I'm telling you, it has changed my world. That sounds dramatic, but I think it's worthy of the drama. I always thought chocolate milk was for little kids. I stand corrected.

• Dresses. Until this year I never really wore them... just for formal occasions. Other than that it was tops and skirts 99% of the time. This year I acquired several more "everyday" dresses and I'm in love. It's so easy, you don't have to match a top and a skirt, they are comfortable, and they work for summer or wear them with a cardigan for winter. Plus they make me feel so feminine. I'm especially fond of eShakti... I love their retro inspired designs and I LOVE that I can customize it - add sleeves, add length, change the neckline... pretty fabulous! Now, if only my purse was as fond of them as I am... :-)

• Frozen yogurt. Yes, I have joined the crowd. It seemed to me that everyone was raving about frozen yogurt, and I thought it must just be some weird fad... after all, I'd only really had frozen yogurt at buffets before and let's face it, it tastes like watery ice cream. Sort of. Well, our friends treated us to Yogen Fruz a week or so ago and I was enlightened. :-) I had strawberry and it was sooo good. Fresh, real strawberry taste... just yum. I don't think I'd be real interested in trying the chocolate, coffee, etc. types of flavors since I think yogurt and fruit are the best and wisest pairing flavor-wise. But I'd definitely go back for the fruit flavors! Delicious!!

Corny post title? Ummm... yes. Oh well, bear with me. :-) This picture is so funny and cute to me because it's like a human's studio portrait shot but it's... a cat. She posed herself and everything. See, I've even got photogenic pets!

The Cookie Modeling Shoot

I love spontaneity. Especially with Laura and Kristen because it becomes us so well. :-) We went over to their house so that Tara and Kristen could practice some music for an upcoming recital, and so Laura and I could chat about flash options for a wedding we are shooting together (soooo excited about that, can't wait to share it with you all!!!). We were messing around with the flash stuff in their basement, and the music makers/cute model sisters came down bearing cookies.

That's always a good way to start things.

Next I think I said, "Ok, come over here and model the cookies," and being fabulous, they did. Hilarity ensued, since modeling the cookies also entailed eating a great quantity of them. Result: sugar high and adorable photos. I don't use the word epic but if I did this would be a time I would use it.

I hope you enjoy the randomness of this... these pictures are totally opposite of my normal style, but it served for flash practice and good memories. <3

This one just really cracks me up...

Here I admit that I pulled Tara from the shoot... not because I don't think she's a great model because she (obviously) is, but I was loving Kristen's outfit with the cookie tray so I wanted to try some with just the pop of red!

Sorry, Tara. Wear red next time and you can stay in for the whole thing.

In other news... It's Tara's birthday today! Happy birthday, little sis! :-D

Kerry | Portraits

Over Thanksgiving it was amazingly warm for this area at the end of November - in the 60's! Given the nice weather and the fact that we had time to do it, my cousin Kerry and I had a little impromptu mini photoshoot. We could have walked farther down the path for a bit better setting, but we'd already taken Chivery for a long walk and didn't feel like going that far again, so we stuck with the small bridge right behind my grandparents' house.

Kerry is just one of those people who are just loads of fun to be around. We had so much fun when we were little... the two of us had our own bank, and our own restaurant, both very successful enterprises. We also occasionally ran a daycare, which could be a traumatic (traumatically enjoyable, of course) experience when my uncle would burst in and steal a baby. While we don't play house like that anymore (usually *cough* - just kidding) we still have a great time when we are together.

The first thing Kerry said was, "I can't do the serious face," and "I'm really bad at smiling for the camera." That's actually probably one of the things we photographers like to hear our subjects say, because it gives us a chance to prove them wrong. :-) What do you think, was she mistaken or what?
