Introducing Cosmo! | Personal

Last week I popped in quickly to post a few phone pictures of our new kitten. He still didn't have a name, and I only put up three pictures. Today that situation is being rectified. :-) I'm sorry this post is a day late, but I literally ran around all day yesterday and didn't have time to get it up!

We debated a long time over his name. We weren't really planning on getting a kitten - it happened suddenly that a friend of ours offered him to us - and so we didn't have names picked out already. We tossed around some literary names, since Tara's dog is a Dickens puppy (Chivery - from Little Dorrit), but none of them really stuck. Finally, we settled on Cosmo, named after Cosmo Brown from Singin' in the Rain, which is one of our favorite old movies. They have matching blue eyes and similar crazy personalities. ;-)

(As a side note, when I was little I got so creeped out by the part where he sits next to and wrestles the dummy. It's amazing how much goes over your head when you're 6).

Spying on the other cat. :-)

Meow!

Since I know you all must be dying for more pictures of my cat (sarcasm intended)...

This is what she looks like in her crazy mood... wild and fearsome!

But she switches back to innocent and angelic with amazing rapidity!

I took my drawer out of my dresser for some reason (can't remember) and left the room for two seconds.
Came back to find Miss Fluffball comfortably ensconced in the empty space.

Possibly my favorite thing about this cat... she blinks her eyes when she meows. :-)

Picture Purrfect

Corny post title? Ummm... yes. Oh well, bear with me. :-) This picture is so funny and cute to me because it's like a human's studio portrait shot but it's... a cat. She posed herself and everything. See, I've even got photogenic pets!

Love That Cat

I have kind of a love-hate relationship with pets. I love them for being what they are - cuddly, soft, adorable, funny... I'm not so crazy about the fur all over everything, when they misbehave, and the dirty jobs. But I have to say, Katije (pronounced Kaht-yah) is one of the best cats we've ever had. The only naughty thing she really ever does is climb the screen doors, and amazingly she doesn't really shed. Plus, she's just really fluffy and chubby and cute, washes herself obsessively, blinks her eyes when she meows, and purrs so loud you can hear her across the room.

This is really a terrible picture, but it cracks me up. Ninja kitty!

I Heart Faces - Pets

Worn out and ready for a nap in the comfiest spot... in the fresh laundry.
Why sleep in your cat bed when there are clean clothes to sleep in?

The Conquest of the Peanut Butter Tub

Now the question is... who was really vanquished?
The unfortunate peanut butter tub, or the very greasy puppy?

Puppyness

The fluffball continues to be a frequent photography subject... he'll only be a puppy once, after all, so you've got to take the photos while you can. Already since these photos he's had a haircut and looks less puppy-like.

Le Puppy

My sister has acquired a new possession... it is small, wriggly, with curly fur all over and a very pathetic whine when left alone. :-) Though I'm not exactly what you would term partial to dogs, I will freely admit that the puppy is very cute and makes a great photo subject! Chivery is his name, after John Chivery from Charles Dickens' "Little Dorrit." Read Tara's post here if you would like to see more extolling of the puppy's virtues, and a few more pictures.

He's a cuddler...

He loved the snow!

And a kisser. I don't let him kiss me... dog slobber is not up my alley.

Ok... I admit it... for a dog, he's pretty cute.
